Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Travel Program Manager is to ensure the efficient operation of the travel program for travel and support the various teams running internal or external events.  This position will need to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the process is executed to benefit the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of key vendor contracts at competitive rates for a company of AAP’s size and scope
    • Travel Management Company & Online Booking Tool
    • Air, Hotel & Rental Car Contracts
  • Proactively vendor management Air, Hotel & Rental Car Vendor Relationships
  • Support key business groups doing group travel or holding events for groups
    • Customer Experience Team responsible for sales incentive trips and national sales meetings
    • Source & Contract hotel(s) for any Meeting and Travel for 10+ people
    • Coordination of billing arrangements & rooming lists for Field & Corporate Meetings or Travel of 10+ people
  • Triage and manage Travel Department Inbox
  • Responsible for Traveler Safety & Risk Management and travel emergencies while an employee is traveling
  • Manage Travel Procedure & assist Risk & Compliance with updates when needed
  • Assist employees with general travel & travel document questions
  • Forecast overall travel spend
  • Work collaboratively with P-Card team to ensure compliance with T&E Procedure
  • Other duties as required

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in the Travel management field
  • Understanding of category management and supplier relationship management principles and application
  • Strategic orientation, inquisitive, comfortable with ambiguity, and self-motivated to identify trends and improvement opportunities aligned with business objectives and strategic plans
  • Ability to build effective relationships, influence peers and key stakeholders, and built consensus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience, present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to extract key themes, determine root causes, develop creative solutions, and craft concise messages
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment
