Product Specialist (Auto/Fabrication)

Job Description

Product Specialist II demonstrates intermediate tool knowledge and has a passion for using tools and equipment.  Product Specialist II may work individually and/or with a group, verifying conformance to industry and regulatory safety standards; and prepares written test reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Intermediate tool knowledge across all categories, product specialist for specific categories
Testing of High Visibility items
Testing of New Items/Product Development
Advanced knowledge with all Lab Equipment
Ability and experience using specialized lab equipment (Bruker) ray Gun, Dynamometer, Life Test Tables relating to area of expertise
Create reports regarding evaluation of product quality and performance in Platypus database
Independently evaluate, create, and draft Test Methods
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.       Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Provide technical expertise based on advanced knowledge and experience and interact with various entities (Catman, GS, Packaging, etc.) within the organization
Actively participate in product demonstrations and provide independent judgment to assist in decision making process regarding specific products.
In connection with development of Test Methods, build Test Fixtures appropriate for execution of testing
Fieldwork Assignments as needed
Defines problems collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Demonstrates advanced tool knowledge and has a passion for using tools and equipment
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications –
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent; College preferred
Three – five years’ experience/ field expertise
Experience as a contractor, construction, carpenter, plumber, welder and auto mechanic and utilizes the corresponding tools with intermediate knowledge
Familiarity with structural carpentry tools to include the repair and maintenance of small industrial tools that are used in the field of general construction
Familiarity with detail carpentry tools to include selection, tool application and safe tool usage
Hands on, able to disassemble, trouble shoot, and assemble various types of products
Experience with report writing computer skills in and Excel, web search, and e-mail
Experience with test, repairing, or professional trade work with consumer tools and equipment
Preferred experience with one of the major testing labs the perform a broad range of tests and certifications (UL, CSA, Intertec, TUV, etc.)
Ability to work in a team setting and have a strong attention to detail
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer skills in Excel, web search, and e-mail
Advanced technical courses at college level or trade school a plus

Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone
Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
Lift up to 45 lbs.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

The anticipated range for this position is $27.02 – $40.53 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. Associates can accrue paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law. The Company observes 100 hours of paid holiday time.
