Job Description

As the Director of Fleet and Learning Garage, you’ll be responsible for garage operations, vehicle maintenance, vehicle safety and corporate/private events. You must be customer focused and extremely detailed oriented. You’ll oversee all aspects of the maintenance and repairs of Hagerty vehicles including the maintenance of records and/or work orders in the garage.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure all Hagerty vehicles are maintained and in excellent working condition and appearance
  • Ensure vehicles are ready for Ride and Drives and coordinate with appropriate staff
  • Give informative garage tours while explaining vehicles and history
  • Provide vehicle training classes for Hagerty U participants
  • Manage garage staff on daily activities
  • Manage DOT program for all sites, including vehicle registration, insurance, and other requirements to ensure compliance with Hagerty policies and the state regulations
  • Coordinate events, meetings and trade shows by identifying, assembling, and organizing requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments; managing mailing lists to ensure event success
  • Ensure the safety of the garage at all times by monitoring collection during events ensuring that food, beverages and catering items are managed in a way that protect the garage collection
  • Assist in the developing, implementing and monitoring the department’s operation budget for the purpose of achieving the fiscal objectives of the department.
  • Coordinate road calls regarding disabled vehicles for the purpose of performing emergency repair work and/or determining if vehicle needs to be towed.

  • Ability to compile and prepare on-going and ad hoc Fleet statistical data, records, and reports.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office to perform budgeting, and other communications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and motivate staff
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including weeknights and weekends as required for event support
  • Must have valid drivers’ license and demonstrate proficiency with a manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • Must be capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs

 

Other things to note

  • This position is worked at the Hagerty Garage in Traverse City, MI.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
