About the role
Lead the retail team to achieve excellent customer service while consistently meeting the
museum’s set sales goals by working closely with customers to determine their needs and
answer their questions about the museum and our products to recommend the right solutions.
A lead quickly responds to any negative guest experience by de-escalating the situation and
ensuring your team understands and feels supported to make things right for the guest. Follow
up and audit the scheduling allocation and guidelines to support peak traffic times, key
holidays, events, and weekends. The Lead Associate's primary focus is to train new and
current retail staff and lead the retail team in daily tasks while providing a five star service.
What you'll do
● Help team members perform work assignments as communicated in a productive,
compliant manner.
● Meeting and connecting with customers, asking questions, listening to shoppers' needs,
and giving options and advice on meeting those needs.
● Learning the Petersen's systems and procedures to enhance selling efficiencies and
complete support duties to ensure all goals are met, including, but not limited to, retail
per cap, Vault Tour, and new membership sales.
● Daily oversight of opening and closing procedures, coordinate breaks and lunches,
provide personal coverage as necessary, collect cash deposits, and generate daily
reports.
● Maintain compliance with the Museum appearance and grooming policy and adhere to
uniform requirements, including a uniform shirt, pullover sweater, comfortable closed-toe
shoes, and business-appropriate pants.
● Develop product knowledge by reading current vendor tags and pamphlets and
attending training to communicate it to the customer.
● Maintain selling floor presentations and restock them as needed.
● Receiving and labeling inventory.
● Be aware of current promotional events and sales.
● Adhere to Loss Prevention inventory control and compliance procedures.
● Performs other work-related duties and projects as assigned.
● Manage assigned store section, delegate employee duties to section assigned
● Deescalate upset employees or customers or difficult situations.
● Report employee performance each quarter.
● Report Daily Sales to museum staff and directors
● Order office supplies, closing paperwork, and store supplies for daily tasks.
● Report any incident to management.
● Sets example for excellent customer service
Qualifications
● Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
● Hands-on experience with POS transactions
● Familiarity with inventory procedures
● A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
● Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
● Solid computer skills
● Ability to work with minimal supervision
● Highly organized and able to store items efficiently
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Proficient in English
● Availability to work flexible shifts
● High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
● 2 year of work experience as a retail sales associate, sales representative or similar roles
The pay range for this role is:
23 - 24 USD per hour (Petersen Automotive Museum)
