Job Description
Position Summary: The Exhaust Development team is currently looking for experienced automotive R&D Technicians! Reporting to project leaders, this position performs vehicle maintenance and repair, fitment testing, fabrication/MIG welding, installs and documentation in support of product development from initial concept through production, as assigned.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
- Provides mechanical support to project leaders and design engineers on assigned projects.
- Completes assigned task lists and assignments according to established schedules.
- Installs and troubleshoots product fitment, and troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs issues on a variety of makes and models of cars and light duty trucks.
- Performs vehicle testing and sound assessments for prototype exhaust products and completes associated documentation.
- Performs market research on assigned products and develops knowledge of latest developments in design and innovation.
- Attends exhaust team meetings, provides status updates on current projects.
- May visit vendor/supplier to deliver/pick-up vehicles, or parts.
- May run errands for shop supplies or customer requirements as needed.
- May generate documentation or perform data entry to update Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Follows established safety procedures and wears applicable PPE as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General Mechanic Certification or equivalent mechanical experience in automotive repair for various makes and models of cars and light duty trucks.
- Intermediate to advanced MIG welding, and fabrication skills (cutting, grinding, bending).
- Strong collaboration and presentation skills to update teams on project status.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with MS Office, and effective verbal and written communication.
- Familiarity with dynamometers a plus.
- Basic shop math, and advanced knowledge of automotive shop tools.
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma and min. 1-year experience in a manufacturing or automotive shop environment on a wide variety of vehicles.
- General Mechanic certification preferred, but not required.
- Excellent motor vehicle record (MVR) and valid California Driver’s License (required)
Hours: Mon – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
