Job Description
Simpson Performance Products is seeking a Product Engineer to join our Safety product development team. In this role, you will assist in the design, development, and testing of innovative products that meet the highest safety standards while optimizing performance. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer with a passion for Motorsports and product development to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Engineering: Support the creation of new products, material selection, and optimization using CAD software, simulations, and hands on testing.
- Prototyping & Testing: Produce prototypes, conduct testing, and analyze test data to identify potential design improvements.
- Material Research: Evaluate and test new materials focusing on durability, performance, and other value-added features for customers.
- Compliance & Certification: Work with senior engineers to ensure designs meet safety standards and assist in the certification process.
- Production Support: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to address design challenges and ensure a smooth transition from prototype to production.
- Customer Feedback Analysis: Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve performance in future designs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly related to physics and materials science.
- Experience working in a lab, shop, or testing environment.
- Familiarity with BoMs, Routings, drawings and other technical documents.
- Familiarity with PLCs.
- Experience in programming languages such as SQP, Javascript, Python, etc.
- Ability to actively participate in hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support.
- Experience or coursework in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for design and modeling.
- Basic knowledge of safety standards (Snell, SFI, FIA, DOT) is a plus.
- Ability to analyze test data and identify areas for improvement.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal guidance.
- Interest in motorsports preferred.
- Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
- On site in New Braunfels, TX facility.
- Travel <10% - test labs, trade shows, other facilities
