Job Description

Plans and designs manufacturing processes in the industrial plant. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of

equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Determines parts and tools needed to

achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.

New product/process development
IS0-9000 Knowledge including:
Non-conforming material reports including material review and root cause analysis.
Corrective action implementation and verification
Implementation & Verification of production documentation
Warranty issues: product returns and reworks
CAD drawings: Controlling and creating prints for fixturing, tooling, QC, plant layouts.
Manufacturing process projects: research, design, quote, report, and coordinate with management
Production efficiencies: Set up times, machine utilization
Part improvement: quality, cycle time, cosmetic appearance
SPC: Initiate and improve real time SPC and utilize information in place to control processes better
Initiate & participate in manufacturing new product development meetings
Ensure products are being produced in a timely manner
Performs a variety of tasks.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Must be physically present with regular and dependable attendance
CNC programming verification a plus
Lean Six Sigma experience is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job mainly operates in an office setting, however, working in the Foundry may also be necessary. Routine use of

standard office equipment such as phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position requires

prolonged computer use. Employee is exposed to Foundry atmospheric conditions such as fumes or airborne

particles, noise, extreme weather, vibration, and moving mechanical parts. Note, personal protective equipment

(PPE) is required when entering the plant to include ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toe boots.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee

frequently is required to sit; walk; stoop; bend; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to kneel, and crouch. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to

50 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.Occasional

evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Little to no travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering*
2+ of related field.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with an aluminum casting and machining field.
Related experience and/or Degrees may be considered in lieu of required education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering
Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt
5+ years of related experience

This is a regular, full-time job opportunity.

Job Description:

Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to improve stability develop best practices and reduce cost within the production area assigned.

Manage manufacturing-related projects and coordinate activities with various internal and external suppliers.

Conceive, design, develop and implement new production lines to manufacture CNC machined aluminum parts.

Products range from but are not limited to, Aluminum water pumps, superchargers, and aluminum cylinder heads.

Develop manufacturing process designs and coordinate with tooling and equipment sources for construction and validation. Review assembly operations, component designs, and corresponding details to verify manufacturing feasibility. Capacity planning and strategy development for manufacturing processes.

Work with tool sources to verify tool and/or assembly and/or testing construction. Assist with capital and tooling analysis, strategies, justification, and acquisitions. Interface with peers, suppliers, and industry organizations to research and develop new process designs and technology concepts. Support teams with quotes and assistance to the manufacturing, quality, development, and program staff, as required. Attend training sessions, seminars, and conferences to expand job knowledge and skills repertoire. Support and adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

Job Requirements (include, but are not limited to):

Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree. Knowledge of Automation Engineering and/or Robotics Engineering a plus.

MINIMUM of 3 years manufacturing engineering work experience.

CNC machining experience required.

Development and implementation of process control techniques and procedures.

Manage the ECN process.

Manage documentation of manufacturing processes.

Confer with design engineering on the manufacturability of existing and new products.

Perform and implement root cause countermeasures related to manufacturing processes.

Program/project management experience preferred: must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.

Working knowledge and application of Lean Thinking

Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.

Ability to travel in support of job function (plants, customers, suppliers, etc.)

Commercial mechanical assembly experience

CNC maintenance experience
